Dixon confident after making Smiths Racing Triumph debut

Jake Dixon had his first taste of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship title-winning Smiths Racing Triumph at Guadix this week with the Dover-based contender feeling confident after his first test with their initial progress.

Dixon joined the reigning championship-winning team for the 2015 season alongside Graeme Gowland, who suffered a broken femur following a crash during the test which has already been operated on. Dixon believes the team have a great foundation for him to start his new campaign as he bids for success when the season gets underway at Easter.

Dixon said: "The Smiths Racing Triumph is an absolute missile and I was so impressed with it. I knew it would be really strong as the team have won championships but to be 0.2 seconds off Billy [McConnell]'s lap record without having to push for lap times felt really good. Everything on the bike felts so good from the start and then we made some adjustments for me and I kept just building up my confidence.

"I didn't feel like I had to push so I feel really happy with how the first test went and I just can't wait to get back on the bike again at Donington Park. I just hope that my team-mate Graeme [Gowland] is back soon as he was unlucky to have got injured at the test. He was giving me some advice on the first days which I was grateful for, so hopefully he will be back soon."
